Master Ayurvedic Doctor John Douillard teaches how to use Ayurveda to
Unlock the Heart

March 15, 2008

On March 15, 2008, Master Ayurvedic Doctor, teacher and acclaimed author John Douillard gave a workshop on how to use the Ayurvedic concepts of diet, exercise, eating habits and stress prevention techniques to move beyond our fear and anxiety to live open-hearted, healthy lives. Ayurveda is an ancient system of medicine developed in India that treats the whole person--mind, body and spirit.

During the workshop, Dr. Douillard taught how we make unhealthy food, drink, drug, and lifestyle choices when our heart is hurting. He taught that what we are really seeking in those moments is love. Participants learned how to open their hearts and become more in tune with nature by making food and lifestyle choices that are aligned with the season and their ayurvedic constitution (dosha). By making these choices from a conscious place, we learn how to become more in tune with our hearts, and are able to live from a place of depth and peace.

Dr. Douillard is the author of the 3-Season Diet, Body, Mind and Sport, Perfect Health for Kids, and The Encyclopedia of Ayurvedic Massage. John received his Ayurvedic training in India and holds a Ph.D in Ayurvedic Medicine from the Open International University. He is the former Director of Player Development for the New Jersey Nets in the NBA. He co-directed Deepak Chopra’s Ayurvedic Center for eight years and has trained more than 1,000 western doctors in Ayurvedic medicine, natural health, fitness and nutrition. Currently he directs the LifeSpa in Boulder, Colorado where he lives with his wife and three of his six children. A former professional tri-athlete himself, Dr. Douillard is considered a sports guru to many professional athletes including Billie Jean King and Martina Navratilova.
