Please come join Kashi Atlanta Mantra Group as we explore mantras and sounds from around the world. Mantra has been used since antiquity as a tool of transformation in all areas of life: physical, spiritual, financial, relational and intellectual. It is a combination of particular words and sounds that embody different forms of Divine consciousness which promote harmony in all areas of life. The repetition of these specific sounds can open up one’s whole being and help one heal and expand in any area where there is struggle. Mantra can also be used to create specific results by aligning us with the energies we wish to become and bring into our life. Mantra can be done for self or directed to help others toward healing and peace. The ancient Hindu teachings say that chanting a mantra with more than one person exponentially empowers the purpose of the mantra and the energies it carries. If you have never chanted before or even if you have a personal practice, come and enjoy the power and energy that comes from group chant in a sacred space!

This workshop will focus on aligning and supporting the body to maximize comfort and explore the depths of deep relaxation. We will cover three variations of Savasana. During this practice we will use yoga nidra, mantra and pratyahara to explore a calmer state of being where we can relax and rejuvenate. The season of winter is focused on turning inward. As animals hibernate and flowers die in order to prepare themselves for awakening in spring, we too need to allow time for ourselves to experience stillness and silenceso that we may heal and rejuvenate. Restorative Yoga stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system by conscious manipulation of the body. By changing our bodies and placing them in postures where we can relax and let go, we start to calm the nervous system, letting go of stress and bringing balance and harmony to the body.

In this workshop we will explore the foundations of Kali Natha Yoga and the art of practicing yoga as puja (moving prayer,) practicing from the inside out. We will repeat each asana several times, focusing on particular foundations including Hooking, Vayu’s Lift and the Breath of Intention. As one becomes more familiar with an asana series, less instruction is needed and we can sink deeper into the moving prayer of the asana. Connecting to the depth and flow and moving together allows us to practice with deep awareness and grace, going deeper into the essence of the puja. Each Kali Natha Yoga asana series is a sacred flow that immerses one in the spiritual and physical essences of the Divine.
